| Hinze Dam (Raised) (15 photos) |
Shortly after my previous visit to Hinze Dam (September 2007), it closed so that the wall could be raised. With the recent reopening in December 2011 (4 years on), it was time to check it out. |

| Mt Coot-tha on a clear day (12 photos) |
It was the clearest view I had every seen from Mt Coot-tha. Luckily I had my camera with me after visiting the Model Train Show earlier in the day. |
| Model Train Show (24 photos) |
The last time I went to the Brisbane Model Train show was in 1999. Thought it was about time to go again. The technology now is amazing. You can control individual trains rather than simply applying power to a track. |

| October 2010 |
The dams are full! Time to check out the open floodgates at Wivenhoe and compare the levels.
| Wivenhoe Open Floodgates (11 photos) |
During previous visits to the spillway at Wivenhoe Dam, I wondered how awesome it'd be to see the water rushing through the floodgates. When the opportunity arose, I headed off to have a look. Unfortunately half of Brisbane had the same idea! After battling the traffic, we headed to Somerset Dam. |
| Dam water comparison (12 photos) |
Having taken a few photos of the spillway at Wivenhoe Dam and the wall at Somerset Dam, I figured I'd do a bit of a comparison. |
|
| July 2010 |
Out and about on a two-week break from work.
| New Gateway Bridge (23 photos) |
Apart from the roaring traffic and toxic fumes, it's quite a nice walk. (At time of publication, Google Maps hasn't been updated to include the second bridge, hence the location appearing over the river.) |

| Steam Train (25 photos) |
After hearing that a Steam Train would be running on the Suburban network, I hurried home from Maryborough to ride the train all the way to Ipswich. |
|
| February 2010 |
| Shorncliffe (19 photos) |
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a Tsunami warning and advised people not to go to coastal areas to watch it - so of course I headed down to Shorncliffe to check it out. |

| Level Crossing Incident (11 photos) |
This is what happens when you ignore lights and boom gates at level crossings! Some idiot took out both gates! Fortunately it wasn't worse! (Disclaimer: Photos were taken with my mobile phone camera, so are very poor quality.) |

| April 2009 |
Between Christmas 2008 and New Year, we headed down to Lismore where my brother and his partner own the squash courts. We liked it so much we went there again for a holiday in late January. Here is a collection of photos taken at Byron Bay and Ballina during those trips. Also added is a collection of photos taken over time and photos of the Q150 train.
| Byron Bay (19 photos) |
At the most eastern part of the Australian mainland stands a lighthouse. Beautiful view - well worth the trip. |
| Ballina (6 photos) |
Nice beachy place. |
| Collection of Photos 4 (8 photos) |
Another collection of photos taken over time. |
| Q150 Train (10 photos) |
Queensland's oldest train passing through the newest station. In fact, this was the first day of operations for the new station at Beerburrum. |
|
| August 2008 |
My friend Timmy had recently returned from studying in Sydney so we headed out on a day trip to Mt French and Moogerah Dam, part of Moogerah Peaks National Park.
| Mt French (5 photos) |
The first lookout was pretty average - but the second one was quite good. Nice view of mountains, farmland and the small town of Kalbar. |
| Moogerah Dam (20 photos) |
After walking across the dam wall, a track leads up the side of a hill - so steep in some parts that it required hands to keep balance. After climbing for a while, I was exhausted and decided to turn back. I'm determined to make another trip there one day and get to the top! |

| Police Academy Stunt Show - Movie World (124 photos) |
After running for 16 years, the Police Academy Stunt Show at Movie World on the Gold Coast had its final show on 30 April 2008. This is a tribute to one of the longest running attractions in the world. |
| New Suburban Multiple Units (SMU's) (16 photos) |
Some of the first new Suburban Multiple Units (SMU's) for the Brisbane suburban train network. From the outside, the units look identical to the new Interurban Multiple Units (16x series) but are designed for shorter routes so lack toilet facilities. |

| Springbrook 2 (18 photos) |
Another trip to Springbrook. I thought it would be interesting after the recent rain. The waterfalls were bigger and part of the path was blocked by a landslide. I was disappointed though that Hinze Dam (now overflowing) was closed to the public. |
|
| January 2008 |
In early January I headed up to the Sunshine Coast to visit a friend. Ended up going to Underwater World and the Sunshine Coast Castle (also known as the Bli Bli Castle).
At the end of January I was lucky enough to go on a trip to the Mayne Rail Yard at Bowen Hills.
| Underwater World (28 photos) |
Hadn't been to Underwater World in about 15 years. Not the best place for photos (plus I need a new camera). Had trouble focusing, the flash reflected off the glass and I kept worrying that I was blinding the fish! Got a few good shots though. |
| Sunshine Coast Castle (15 photos) |
I remember visiting the Sunshine Coast Castle (which I think was called the Fairy Tale Castle) as a child. This would have been in the late 70's. (I feel so old!) |
| Mayne Rail Yard (9 photos) |
I went on a trip to the Mayne Rail Yard at Bowen Hills as part of a group from Rail: Back on Track. We were able to have a go of the train simulator which was fun. I think I wanna be a train driver! |
|
| September 2007 |
My friend Kurt and I decided to head for a trip south to Springbrook National Park. On the way we stopped at Hinze Dam - then stopped at Little Nerang Dam on the way back.
This is one of the best trips I've done - and is only a little more than an hour away from home. I'd recommend this as a day trip for anyone near Brisbane or on the Gold Coast.
| Purlingbrook Falls (30 photos) |
The highlight of our trip. After seeing the falls from the top, we wound our way down to the bottom of the falls where the path actually went behind the cascade of water. |
| Springbrook Lookouts (17 photos) |
There were that many lookouts, by the end of the day we were all looked-out! |
| Hinze and Little Nerang Dams (6 photos) |
Dams are interesting - so why not stop at them when they're on the way! |

| Yamba and MacLean (15 photos) |
I headed down to Grafton on the Queen's Birthday long weekend to visit my friend Wayne. He was nice enough to organise a cruise for us in nearby Yamba. After the cruise, we checked out the sites in Yamba and then the lookout at MacLean on the way back to Grafton. |

| April 2006 |
During a 2-and-a-bit-week break from work, I decided to head out and about. I clocked up over 3,400km in my trusty Laser.
The first trip was to Roma for "Easter in the Country" (and my birthday) with Steven, a former local of the area.
Second trip was to Alstonville and Ballina in NSW with Jason. My brother and his partner (Jason's mum) were managing the squash courts in Alstonville until the idiot owner decided to sell the building without telling them.
The third trip was to Biloela. I'd been there twice before - but that was before I bought my camera. The views there were one of the reasons why I wanted to buy a camera and once I did, I vowed to return there "one day".
Finally, I went on a day trip with Jamie up through Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious to Somerset Dam.

| November 2005 |
A weekend trip to Toowoomba during a week-and-a-half break from work. Lucky I had Richie with me to show me all the sites. During the weekend we caught up with Dan, a friend I'd been chatting to on the net for years.
| Japanese Gardens (14 photos) |
These gardens were quite beautiful - although the water was a bit dirty. |
| Toowoomba Sights (13 photos) |
Cemetery gardens, Picnic Point and Queen's Park |

| October 2005 |
| Collection of Photos 3 (11 photos) |
Another collection of photos taken over time - including Mt Cootha, Wellington Point and the view from the Marriott on the Gold Coast. |
|
| September 2005 |
| Riverfire 2005 (28 photos) |
We stood in the crowds at Southbank looking forward to seeing the fireworks. Unfortunatly the view from Southbank wasn't that good - with the fireworks further up the river. Got a few good shots though. |

| May 2005 |
| Budgies (3 photos) |
These photos were taken at Torbay Retirement Village in Hervey Bay, where my grandmother lived. |
| Sunshine Coast (7 photos) |
A couple of friends and I went on a day trip to the Sunshine Coast. I snapped a few photos while we were there. |
| Brisbane Hail Storm (16 photos) |
A hail storm made its way across Brisbane. Luckily we received warning from people in areas that had already been hit. |

| Bored walk - Ululah (17 photos) |
I was feeling a bit bored and decided to go for a walk with my camera to Ululah Lagoon in Maryborough. I call it my "bored walk". |

| August 2004 |
| Noosa (16 photos) |
I headed down to Noosa to meet a friend from Brisbane. The day started out a bit wet and we even had a storm. But by early afternoon the skys cleared and it was a beautiful day! |

| July 2004 |
| Collection of Photos 1 (17 photos) |
I had previously called this my "Holidays" site. However, with a number of photos I took when I was out and about that I wanted to "show off", I decided to rename the site. This collection of photos is the first to be added and includes photos dating back to when I purchased the camera in mid 2003. |
|
| April 2004 |
After an Easter trip to Roma was cancelled, I stayed home and received a visit from my good friend Travis (from Melbourne).
During this time we visited beautiful Rainbow Beach and Inskip Point, including the fabulous Sandblow. We headed to Hervey Bay for a birthday lunch beside the beach. We also headed up to Bundaberg, stopping at the Flying High Bird Habitat in Apple Tree Creek on the way.
A couple of weeks later, I went on a spontaneous trip to Brisbane for the weekend. It included a visit to a park near Swanbank Power Station and a stroll around the Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens.
|
| October 2003 |
I went on a holiday trip and met a number of people I'd be chatting to on the Internet for some time and their circles of friends. After a few days in Rockhampton, I headed up to Townsville. While I was there, we went for a trip to Paluma, just north of Townsville, where we encountered tranquil rock pools and spectacular views. After quick stopover back in Rockhampton, I headed home in time for the Bathurst 1000.
